swag, style and trend

It was just another bright spring morning. I sat on my favourite sofa in ELSAC to kill some time before the next class. Like any other days, the book rested slenderly against the book holder in such a style. I have to admit it has this enticing vibe to the visitors but it never occur to me to read it, since I was always occupied with more important businesses.

Suddenly a wild cloud of thought emerged in my head, I felt a hunch urging me to read it. In the need for some action, I choose to entertain that thought without further delay. I peeked at my phone. Good, still got 30 minutes.

The book is titled 'The Writer's Diet'. It has a nice cover, a sexy red apple sitting on a pile of papers and some writing instruments.

There was not much time left after I finish admiring the cover and the font of the description at the back cover. So I quickly flicked to the last page where it happened to be the gist of the book.

The writer gave a lot of emphasis on the need of style and quality in producing worthy piece. Anyone can write, but true writers stand on a different class. Their works illustrate their genuine thoughts crafted in such fashion and style. To own the grace requires countless attempts and great patience.  He also expressed disappointment on the current trend of writing which are missing quality and value, as a result of tasteless content and diction in media authorship. That is quite true, I could imagine the bleak future of literary appreciation and production if this trend prevails.

Then it pinched me hard.

I was not innocent too. My current reading lists only counted from junk jokes to mindless works. Besides feeding my thirst for amusement, I have been absent from my writing career for a long time. Aside from completing my assignments, I hardly read or write anything of quality. In fact, I lost the aesthetic touch and my fondness of writing, which once defined my psyche.

For some time, I slouched on the sofa with a heavy thought.

Perhaps, this is my wake-up call. It is time to resurrect the sleeping soul and summon the fire of Will. I will seed my writing vigor and spread my wings to the kingdom of literary journalism.
