I think all is said, right?? hahaha,
Today is my 2nd day in Auckland. First comment? WOW, Fantastic city! Never been in such a clean spot, it's dust-less, yet extraordinarily enchanting, with the green scenery and architecture under the radar.
BUT the first thing that caught my sight is, the buildings. I've never seen a city, in fact, a very civilised city that is built on a mountain scratch. They say Rome was not built in a day, but it can't beat Auckland, which was built on mountains and hills. Poor Mother Nature. And the designs transport me to Victorian era. They are so classical yet well established. I am enthralled, no denial!
2nd, the roads and alleys. I'm living in the largest city in New Zealand and apparently my university is in the middle of the town. Like, every single outlets are walkable, well not cycle-able, since it's so mountainous. Today, we walked throughout the city, seeking groceries and Halal food outlets with a tour guide, our senior.
Talking about groceries and stuffs, the price are definitely incomparable to Malaysia value. Most items here hold the same value like in Malaysia, only in Dollar. $$$. which is not RM, which is not slightly, but relatively higher than our value. Talking about money, suddenly I'll miss home. hahah!!
Oh, yes.. Toilet. Like other foreigners, I start to use the toilet paper. But since we (TESOL boys) are housemates we are considering to put a basin in the toilet, but the idea was rejected. They say its a good practice. But practice for what pal? Practise leaving craps on your butts and let it smell the town?
Next, the food. Hmmm, they say that we have to be extra careful at choosing the food stations, BUT I don't know yet. Maybe if I'm not so sure, and not trying to be affirmative, SOMETIMES I'll just grab a bite. Oh, no. Maybe a whole meal. heheh.. OK, not funny.. I'll make sure of that, no frets ok!
My hostel, it is hot in the day since it is still summer and golden. Sunbeams as early as 6.30 and lasts until 8.00 pm I guess?? But not so hot. When I reached my dorm, I was swearing since there was no fans accommodated. But when I slide the window open, the breeze is too chilly that I almost bleed my nose. I think I don't need a fan, not even air conditioner. They only got us the heater. I think it's going to be frightfully cold in the winter, oh I will need my snow cap soon! hahah!! What a snob! sorry...
I think thats all for now. I'll attach some pictures later. Hello to fellow Aucklanders! And Malaysians I miss you guys!
